Who we are?
Herbst was founded in 1874 by Friedrich Herbst , who invented the dough dividing machine, the first step towards stirring and mixing mechanisation. This led to volume production, with the plant in Halle/Saale employing around 350 staff.
After the Second World War, the Herbst family was expropriated and moved to North Rhine-Westphalia where they established a new company on a smaller scale.
In 1997, Herbst was sold. With new management and a highly qualified employee base, production has been modernised and many new developments have since been successfully implemented.
In 1998, the company moved into newly-built premises in Buxtehude near Hamburg.
In 2008 the company building in Buxtehude was extended to include a technology centre which is also available to customers for stirring and mixing trials.
The production facility quickly reached full capacity and new premises became necessary. These were built on a greenfield site within the immediate vicinity.
At the beginning of 2015 construction work for the new premises, including an office facility, was completed and a highly modern and spacious facility was ready to begin production. The company currently employs 23 people.
